LA Counts 2010

The City of Los Angeles and the Los Angeles Unified School District present a Day of Service: "Serving Together in Our Schools and Communities"

The LA Schools Day of Service is a day for Angelenos throughout the City to unite and share a day filled with service projects throughout local schools that will address school and community issues, as well as highlight the school's and community's assets. This Day of Service also highlights Mayor Villaraigosa's and the LAUSD's commitment to service in our communities and schools.

Community service projects will be initiated at 30 schools (and their vicinities) and include a Census 2010 public education campaign. Service activities may include starting and/or supporting existing community projects in and around target schools such as tree planting, mural painting, landscaping, community gardens, graffiti removal, street cleaning, bulky item pick up, alley clean up, cleaning abandoned lots, etc. Public education will consist of door-to-door community outreach and a message from the Mayor that informs residents about the importance of participating in Census 2010 by completing and submitting their Census questionnaire.
